How president works

Transcript
A president is the head of a country or state, chosen by the people. In democracies like India and the USA, presidents have real power and responsibility.
- President = elected leader

The president takes an oath to protect the constitution and serve the nation. A president's main jobs are making laws, commanding the military, and appointing judges.
- Oath: defend constitution
But the president cannot do everything alone—Congress or Parliament must approve big decisions. This is called checks and balances: each branch of government limits the others' power. For example, the president proposes laws, but Parliament votes to pass them.
- Needs Parliament approval
- President proposes, Parliament votes
The president serves a fixed term, usually four to five years, then must be re-elected. In India, the President is elected by Parliament members, not directly by voters like in America. A president can be removed by impeachment if they break the law or abuse power.
- One term = 4-5 years
- India: elected by Parliament
- Can be impeached for crimes
A president leads the nation but must share power and follow the constitution.
